The Lattice table designed for Ariake is a dining table that investigates the interplay between transparency and solidness. The wooden lattice build up the legs, and the play with light and shadow is accentuated through organic spacing. From select angles the legs appear as a closed surface, only revealing its construction through the light passing though, while, from other angles, it appears entirely transparent. Inspired by the shutters and covers used in architecture to control light streaming into the building, the calming repetitions of the construction creates an overall clean and architectural feel, often found in front of traditional Japanese stores and restaurants.
