The Joinery Bench, designed for POJ Studio in Japan, can be completely disassembled, with each element secured through a system of exposed wooden joinery. Two long struts beneath the seat provide longitudinal stability, passing through the legs and locked into place from the outside by large visible wedges. The seat itself is fixed with square timber keys inserted directly into the surface, making the structural logic of the piece both functional and legible.
Combining sharp, defined edges with softly rounded sides on the underside of the seat and legs, the bench balances precision with lightness. Its solid construction gives it permanence and strength, while the softened details lend the piece a more refined and approachable expression.
