Designed for Dan Bakstudio in Varberg, Sweden, the bespoke dining chair is made in solid Douglas fir with a woven paper cord seat and backrest.
Composed almost entirely of straight horizontal and vertical elements, the chair is defined by architectural clarity, repetition, and a strong sense of construction. The slightly angled backrest adds comfort while preserving the graphic character of the piece, allowing function and expression to remain closely connected.
Seen from the side, the closed timber frame and runners along the ground create visual coherence and give the chair a distinct, architectural presence. The woven seat and backrest introduce a natural softness to the sharp lines of the solid wood construction, adding texture, comfort, and a sense of handcraft.
Designed specifically for the bakery, the dining chair reflects the wider interior’s balance between precision and warmth, supporting the everyday rituals of gathering, pause, and shared meals.
